It turns out that thinner people aren’t just healthier in general, as well as (by certain societal standards) much, much better looking; they’re less detrimental to the atmosphere, too. The latter concept is intuitive, if you consider the greater amount of energy required to transport and feed people who weigh a lot. But why listen to your intuition when you can rely on lab coats from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, who conducted a study that shows the relationship between a population’s weight and its atmospheric impact? Basically, it’s important that you cut back on the mac ‘n cheese and the chicken wings–if not for your heart’s health, or your ego, then for the sake of our planet. In fact, if you really want Leonardo DiCaprio on your good side, reduce your caloric intake and the amount of waste you generate by forgoing things like cans of soda and bags of potato chips.
